Greater Memphis School Districts

The districts:

In 2011, there were only two school districts — Memphis City School and Shelby County Schools. Just three years later, there were eight. Few communities have gone through as much educational change as Shelby County has recently. Fortunately, with some limitations, families still have access to most schools that have available spots, so options have never been more numerous for Shelby County families.

The ASD directly runs a few schools in Frayser, but the rest of its schools are operated by ASD-authorized charter organizations, which are independent organizations running public schools.
